Received this as a email from Dave Martin:
Please pass the word to everyone that we have canceled the match for April 25th.
The North Country Practical Pistol League has to determine whether the club "ends" or "continues" for the 2010 shooting season. We also need to determine club officers for the 2010 shooting season. Please e-mail me (
davidemartin2000@yahoo.com) with any comments or concerns.
Our club is going through a tough time with the loss of some of our core members. Allen Parsons will be moving out west in May, John Martin stopped shooting due to health problems and Donnie Patnode just had a heart surgery, even if Donnie is up to shooting he will not be at the range to set-up for every match.
(If anyone has a small trailer that the club could use to move props around, let me know how much you would like for it. We could keep most of the steel in it and save our backs) The thing is not everyone has a truck to use for this purpose. It should be light weight so any car with a hitch can tow it and does not need to be road worthy either.
As you can see we sincerely need some people to step up and share the workload needed to run our matches, without it, we may decide to close the club.
I was one of a hand full of people that founded this club when we started in 1990 in Tupper Lake. I sincerely do not want to see it shut down, however, will not and can not do it alone.
If we could get a few people to commit to work a match from set up to tear down it would spread the work load out. It would make it easier on us all.
Who is going to help keep the club running?
Some suggestions:
Maybe, at each match, we can have a sign up sheet for those willing work a match from 8:30 til clean up, "if nobody signs up to work we cancel that match". I think this may work, I would also like to suggest, that those people that sign up to work the entire match shoot for free, we may need 4 people to sign up.
I was also thinking that at the first match we pay the Chateaugay membership fee, I think it is $15, the NCPPL Fee ($10) and only charge $5.00 to shoot to cover the fees that need to be paid per shooter to the Chateaugay Club and to USPSA. That is $30 for your first match and then charge $10 for every other match for the season
Your ideas, participation and input is requested.
Let me know and get the word out!
